Some wines tell you where they're from the moment you open the bottle. This is one of them.

Red Hut is the project of two friends, Corey Ryan and Mike Farrugia, who spent years working across New Zealand's wine industry before deciding to do things their own way. Named after the iconic backcountry huts scattered across the NZ wilderness, Red Hut is about finding the real thing: real places, real people, real wine. They source small parcels from the regions that genuinely excite them, and Lowburn in Central Otago is exactly that kind of place.

The 2024 vintage was a gift. A long, dry summer under El Niño conditions, followed by cool autumn nights that slowed ripening just enough to build extraordinary flavour, acidity, and elegance. The fruit was hand-picked from a single Lowburn vineyard, naturally fermented with 20% whole bunches, hand-plunged twice daily, and aged for 12 months in French oak before being bottled unfiltered — nothing stripped away, nothing added.

In the glass: lifted wild cherry, redcurrant, dried thyme, and a whisper of rose petal. On the palate, it’s vibrant and savoury with fine, silky tannins and a mineral thread that lingers. This is Central Otago Pinot Noir doing exactly what it does best.
