Opulent and refined, with layers of complexity. As with all previous vintages, the Bourgogne Rouge outperforms its price tag. The 2022 edition bursts with notes of pomegranate and ripe red cherries, accented by a touch of spice. A rich hue of deep purple, showcasing exceptional vibrancy - a blend of Monthelie and 1er Cru. Delicate yet indulgent, a harmonious fusion of sweet raspberry, blackcurrant, and juicy cherry. Balancing medium body with precise tannins and lively acidity, this wine boasts an abundance of succulent fruit.
This year's blend includes Bourgogne-level fruit from Leroux’s key sources: the excellent Maison Dieu in Pommard, Mon Poulain in Volnay and Les Belles Côtes in Meursault. In 2022, these sites are complemented by village wines from Monthélie. Leroux opted to use whole-bunch fermentation only on the homegrown components. Maturation took place in 2,200-litre Grenier oak casks. As always, this punches way above its weight division. So crunchy and pure, yet with depth, it’s loaded with grenadine and red-cherry fruit and plenty of spice.
