To explore the concept of terroir as it relates to the sensory attributes of a wine, relative to the place in which the grapes are grown. This experiment studies the role of 8 different cool climate vineyards on the sensory attributes of Pinot Noir in 2018.
Grapes sourced from the North facing Merricks, Mornington Peninsula vineyard on red volcanic ferrous eroded basaltic soils, picked 6/3/2018. Indigenous fermentation with 50% whole bunches, matured in 50% new French oak barrels, unfined and unfiltered. Note - Same winemaking practices applied to all batches.
Pale in Colour. Elegant on the nose, expressing restrained raspberry and red cherry. The palate continues with red cherry fruit, grilled peaches and hints of herb and spice. Very attractive, silky and pure.
