The fruit for this wine came from our ‘Estate’ vineyard, and our Callanan’s Road vineyard. The fruit was handpicked, whole bunch pressed, and the unclarified juice was fermented in French oak puncheons (35% new). Initially it was stirred monthly in barrel, to build weight and complexity. It did not go through malolactic fermentation.
2021 was a cool year with low yields, with high natural acidity giving terrific ageing potential. Expressive aromas of lemon sherbet, white peach, and hints of struck match, lead onto a racy palate. Vibrant fruit flavours are framed with crisp acidity which gives the wine a long, linear finish.
