The Between the Capes Chardonnay is Nic Peterkin’s latest release under the L.A.S. Vino label, and it captures the best of Margaret River in one bottle. Sourced from three standout sites across Wilyabrup, Metricup and a cooler pocket in Karridale, it’s 100% hand-picked, whole-bunch pressed and barrel fermented using Gin-Gin clone fruit. Aged for 10 months in seasoned French oak with a small portion in amphora, and stirred on lees fortnightly, it stays bright and detailed thanks to no malolactic fermentation.

The result is a Chardonnay that’s fresh, layered and quietly complex with notes of ripe citrus, white peach and stone fruit, wrapped in a subtle saline edge. It’s more open and approachable than Nic’s tighter single-site wines, but still carries that signature precision and texture. Perfect for drinking now or short-term cellaring, it shines with seafood, roast chicken or creamy pasta, and is ideal for anyone who likes modern, cool-climate Chardonnay with energy and detail rather than heavy oak or buttery richness.
