Sigalas AM Assyrtiko Monemvasia PGI Cyclades 2018
The 2018 Am is an equal blend of Assyrtiko & Monemvasia, unoaked and coming in at 13% alcohol. The best addition here is the texture. This feels almost like velvet, even while unoaked. Suave but fruity, it is bright, gentle and fun. It finishes with some dried cantaloupe and dried peach.
On the magnificent island of Santorini, lies the ancient plain of Oia, where Domaine Sigalas can be found. Here, one of the most vibrant varieties of the Mediterranean, Assyrtiko grows alongside Athiri and other varieties including Aidani, Mandilaria and Mavrotragano.
The estate was founded in 1991, located in the traditional canava (wine cellar) of the Sigalas family. In 1998, a new, modern winery was constructed nearby in a privately owned area. 2003 was a further milestone when it was renamed Domaine Sigalas.
Today Domaine Sigalas continues to implement its plans for development and growth, based on the three principles on which it was founded: a creative relationship with the traditions of the island of Santorini, quality and remaining technically savvy.
