Painted Wolf Wines "Guillermo" Pinotage 2021

This concentrated and full-bodied wine delivers vibrant flavors of ripe blueberry and mulberry, enhanced by exotic spices and creamy vanilla, with pronounced ripe tannins and a lasting finish. The organically certified Pinotage grapes were sourced from the Kasteelsig vineyard, owned by Painted Wolf Pack members Billy (Guillermo) and Penny Hughes. The vineyard’s soil is mainly red Glenrosa with some Oakleaf, both shale-rich duplex types, and the vines receive no irrigation. Fermentation took place in small open bins using a blend of natural and commercial yeasts, with 4 to 6 punch downs daily. The wine was aged for about 12 months in a combination of French, Hungarian, and American oak barrels, around half of which were new.
