Maison Harbour Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Combe au Moine 2018
Translucent dark ruby color sets the stage for a juicy nose of fresh red fruits, flinty with hints of forest floor, earth, spice, red liquorice and a touch of reduction. Supple, savory, pure, fresh and clean in the mouth, with rich and powerful flavors of red plums, red berries, rhubarb, and clove. This wine has a mineral vein and beautiful tension from start to finish, and builds in character and intensity through the midpalate to the finish, complex, clean and structured, on a backbone of blood orange acidity that is just delicious.
As one of the handful of expats in and around Beaune, Maison Harbour have already established a great reputation with their micro-négociant business. Having released their first vintage in 2013, Colleen and Nicholas Harbour are sharing the unique climates of Burgundy through their terroir driven wines. The couple did not inherit a long-established Domaine, but rather pushed everything they studied and worked for to pursue their dream of producing pure, terroir-driven wines in Burgundy. Having secured some superb parcels in the Côte d’Or.
