Louis Roederer Collection 243 NV
Collection 242 represents the 242nd cuvée since foundation, and is based on vintage 2017 (56%). For freshness and salinity 36% is from Louis Roederer’s Réserve Perpétuelle, initiated in 2012: 50:50 chardonnay & pinot noir, zero malo-lactic fermentation and stored reductively in large stainless-steel vats. For depth and complexity, Louis Roederer increased their Réserve wines to 10%, mainly young vine Domaine Cristal vines, aged in large wooden foudres. The dosage for Collection 242 is lower at 8 gms/Lt.
AROMA : The perfectly ripe Chardonnay grapes lend the wine its aromas of ripe, sweet fruit complemented by subtle oaky notes.
PALATE : The palate is rich and ripe with a luxurious texture that coats the palate, the signature of an outstanding Chardonnay. The Pinot noir and Meunier grapes from the Vallée de la Marne complete the wine’s broad, luscious, smooth and juicy character. The finish is energetic and fresh.
