Freycinet Vineyard Chardonnay 2018
Claude has done you an absolute solid with this beauty. The trick is to buy the little brother Louis and drink that whilst you hide the 2018 somewhere far, far away from your wine glass for the next few years. The 2018 manages to be both rich and so, so delicate. This is all toasted nuts, soft vanilla, ripe and freshly squeezed lemons, apple danish, apricots, honeysuckle and peach blossoms. This will age into a soft, savoury, mushroomy delight as the years pass by. There’s plenty of acidity and bright fresh fruit to see it into old age, whereby a more recent iteration of Louis Chardonnay shall be left in the cupboard and its older sibling will emerge in time for dinner all mature and reflective. Cracking.
