BABO Chianti DOCG 2024
* Across any 6 bottles of wine, when purchased in store.
If you've only ever had basic supermarket Chianti, this wine might come as a surprise. Made by Australian winemaker Justin Bubb from quality fruit grown near Empoli in Tuscany, Babo Chianti delivers everything people love about the region: bright cherry fruit, savoury herbs, freshness and food-friendly drinkability, without the hefty price tag.
Made from 95% Sangiovese with a small addition of Colorino, it shows juicy sour cherry, plum and red berry flavours alongside hints of dried herbs, rose petals and olive tapenade. The palate is medium-bodied and energetic, with enough tannin to give it shape while staying incredibly easy to drink. Justin likes to call it "Beaujolais from Italy", and it's easy to see why. Vibrant, approachable and packed with character, this is the sort of red that belongs on the dinner table alongside pizza, pasta, charcuterie or a simple midweek meal.
