Tyrrell's Stevens Semillon 2017

The Stevens vineyard is the southern-most of our Semillon vineyards and features a combination of light sand and red clay soils. The vineyard is dry grown with the earliest plantings being 1911.

The 2017 vintage resulted in outstanding Semillons with the ideal combination of strength and sophistication. With ample rainfall in winter and spring, the vines thrived and produced fruit that was perfectly ripe and in prime condition at harvest. After being lightly crushed and pressed, the grapes underwent a cooler fermentation process. Minimal time was spent on yeast lees before the wine was bottled early to preserve its freshness. No oak was used in the fermentation or maturation process.

A richer, softer incarnation of Stevens Semillon. The palate is generous and round, full of ripe citrus intensity, with the classic waxy character that aged Semillons are known for. Drinking very well at six years of age, but will evolve gracefully over the next five to ten years.
