La Ficelle St Pourçain 2023 is one of those French reds that's simply a pleasure to drink. A blend of Gamay and Pinot Noir from the historic St Pourçain region, it strikes a lovely balance between freshness, perfume and juicy fruit. The nose is bright and fragrant, with delicate violet aromas leading into ripe blackberry and dark cherry notes.
On the palate it's soft, smooth and effortlessly approachable, with plenty of vibrant berry fruit, gentle floral characters and just enough length to keep you coming back for another glass. There's nothing heavy or complicated here, just a fresh, lively red that's all about enjoyment. It was a real crowd-pleaser with the Jim's Cellars tasting panel.
Serve it lightly chilled alongside charcuterie, roast chicken or a casual midweek dinner, or simply enjoy it on its own.
