The Yangarra High Sands Grenache is considered one of the best and highest quality expressions of Grenache in Australia.
This grenache comes from a high-altitude vineyard that was planted in 1946 into deep sandy soils. It underwent a wild yeast fermentation with 50% whole berries in open fermenters, followed by a longer maceration period. The wine was then matured in a combination of Austrian and French oak foudres, puncheons, and ceramic eggs. It perfectly captures the sweet succulence of the vintage, with its high-end perfumes being a standout feature. Despite being medium-bodied, it is exceptionally rich and complex, with a powerful and incredibly long-lasting palate profile. A truly exceptional wine.
